Early Life & Biography

Heidi Klum was born on June 1, 1973, in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. Her mother Erna Klum was a hairdresser and her father was a cosmetics company executive. After applying to a modeling contest called “Model 92”. 

She won and was offered a modeling contract worth US$300,000 by Thomas Zeumer, CEO of Metropolitan Models New York. After graduating she accepted the contract.

Klum also appeared on the Gottschalk Late Night Show, a German television show with host Thomas Gottschalk.

After accepting the contract, Klum worked as a model and actress featured on the cover of French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish Vogue magazines, as well as Elle, InStyle, Marie Claire, Glamour, and Russian Harper’s Bazaar magazines.
