After university, he began working on the Tethered satellite project in partnership with NASA and Martin Marietta at Aeritalia Spazio. He then started working for Andersen Consulting as a programmer and project manager.
Scaglia also worked for McKinsey & Company, where he worked for automotive industry clients in Germany and in Italy.
Scaglia was a brilliant employer and achieved many things working with any firm he worked at. In 1995, he took the position of CEO at Vodafone Italy.
