Early Life & Biography

Ford was born July 30, 1863, on a farm in Springwells Township, Michigan. At a young age, he had the opportunity to move to Detroit and start playing with watches, and by the time he was 12 he was able to repair them.  He got obsessed with mechanics when he saw a working steam engine for the first time.

Career & Success Story

In 1880 henry ford worked as an apprentice machinist and started learning about the gas engine from a British magazine. To learn more about steam engines, Ford landed a job in Thomas Edison’s Electric company as a mechanic. In 1893 Henry Ford successfully built his first working gas engine.

After three years of hard work he built a quadricycle which had many problems like overheating but in the first year he added many improvements to it. Ford started his own company in 1899 with a capital of $150,000 ($4,500,000 after inflation adjustment) from the Detroit Automobile Company, but after many problems that Ford encountered, the board members fired him.

Ford started a new company, the famous FORD after getting a capital of $28,000 ($7775,000  after inflation adjustment) which became successful because it made cars a commodity that can be bought for a good price rather than a status symbol for the wealthy. 

Ford had used the assembly line for the first time in history and vanadium steel material made the cars stronger and lighter, which Ford capitalized on to market his new model T which received 25,000 orders after a week of releasing it.
