After university, he began working on the Tethered satellite project in partnership with NASA and Martin Marietta at Aeritalia Spazio. He then started working for Andersen Consulting as a programmer and project manager.
Scaglia also worked for McKinsey & Company, where he worked for automotive industry clients in Germany and in Italy.
Scaglia was a brilliant employer and achieved many things working with any firm he worked at. In 1995, he took the position of CEO at Vodafone Italy. After the successful IPO that Omnitel valued the company at 10 billion euros and raised 1.6 billion euros, Scaglia was featured on the cover of Forbes Magazine.
